Romans 3:23 says "we all sin and fall short of the glory of God", this is very well known no matter how long one has been a christian. There is something else that can come from the realization of the fact that all have sinned. Adam and Eve experienced it in the garden, shame. Once sin has happened, there are a lot of people who experience shame and guilt. The questions that are often asked are, "How can I move on past sin?" "Should I feel guilt and shame?" " How can I be forgiven?". These questions are at the forefront of many people's thoughts. So what do we do with all of this? "I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, And in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord, Who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, Born of the Virgin Mary, Suffered under Pontius Pilate, Was crucified, dead, and buried. He descended into hell". This is the opening line of the Apostles Creed, but what do they mean by "He descended into hell"?Did he go down to hell? This being the first step in obedience to Christ, is an important step as it shows not only our loyalty to Jesus, but also symbolizes us being burried with Christ and raised into newness of life with Him.
